Fired Up San Clemente

Fired Up has added a Mosaic clay class this summer starting on Wednesday August 11th. Our first meeting will be 11:00am-1:00pm at our beautiful Ole Hansen home studio.  Your child will design, roll & cut their clay, paint, glaze, and adhere their creation to a wood keepsake box. What an awesome way to spend the end of the summer! Fired Up has all the supplies necessary, all we need are interested artists who want to learn a new task and have some clay FUN! If private lessons are desired in the area of beginning hand building or Potters wheel throwing please contact Sarah and we can schedule a convenient time for you and yours.  Or if you have a neighborhood crew that would like to form its own clay class lemme know and we can make it happen.  I LOVE CLAY!!!

At Fired Up there are no time limits when you purchase your ceramic piece or clump of clay. We encourage you to take your time and work at your own artistic pace. If it takes 10 times to complete your masterpiece then so be it! Besides I LOVE the company. For children we have a backyard with bikes, chalk, and toys if they need a break between layers. I also offer private lesson on the potters wheel or beginning hand building.  Enter a world of therapeutic FUN when you step thru the threshold of our 1934 historic Ole Hanson home.  Bring snacks or beverages to make your visit more comfortable.  The backyard has canopies and a blooming garden if outdoor painting is desired.  Visit Fired Up everyday 12-6 and Fridays until 9, hope to see you real soon!

Use our clay, tools, kiln, paints, and glazes at Fired Up ceramics studio to create a masterpiece. If you so much as walk thru our door you are an Artist. We will give you the means to enjoy your day inside or outside our historic home location. Wednesday July 28 at 10:00am your child can join Fired Up’s potters wheel and hand building clay class.  Beginning and Experienced artists are welcome to join. Please call and register today 949-498-3929.  It will be 3 weeks of creative FUN this summer. If this looks interesting and you are an adult, we can schedule a private session or a small class of your friends and/or mine!

Have an old dish or fancy pattern and want to create a ceramic replica? Call me today to set up an appointment to roll out and hand make your creation at Fired Up 949-498-3929.  These ladies brought in a broken ceramic and the plastic dish it was created from and went to work in the studio. Using raw clay and my tools they hand built the dish, Fired Up bisque & glaze fired it, and they painted their masterpiece.  If only I could see the woman’s face who they are giving it to…what a magnificent job they did together, Mother and Daughter!!!

Thought a visual was necessary for the FUN with clay and water my new Friend Alex had at Fired Up last week!  Notice her focus and well contained clay mess on her working board.  Kid Friendly is what the “Smart and Good lady” at Fired Up says life and ceramic studios should be!

Age 4=excited to do new things, loves getting their creative thing on, and sharp tools make it ALLLL the better!!! Lil Alex had a blast rolling out her clay, pressing her own hand into the clay, and using the cutting tool to cut out her shape.  If we had been paying more attention to her and not the fact that us “Girls” hadn’t seen each other since High School…we may still have that memorable masterpiece! A lot of water mixed with a strong desire to cut anything and everything with her cutting tool made for a FUN activity.  Luckily Miss Sarah got her clay rolled out and cut and got all 4 of her friends’ kids clay impressions!!!  FYI If you are reading this and have children…they are is GOOD hands when we design and press your lil ones hands/feet into clay! Create your own back splash, have the kids paint filler tiles for a wall, or ask Fired Up to paint it for you!  This is a clever way to personalize your home.  The above design will be hung in a San Juan Capistrano kitchen as their custom back splash, painted by yours truly!  No time limits or paint fees make this an affordable activity.  Please come in or call for more information 949-498-3929.  Great idea for a summer project!!!  Pencil burns away in the kiln during firing making it easy to graph and sketch out a design before painting. Then its up to you and your painting skills to complete the masterpiece with our many tools and colors.  Think about it…a guest is over and notices your tile design…imagine the conversation and compliments that will follow!  Nurture your inner artist or ask me to nurture mine!!

Kids need activity and Fired UP has just the answer…Clay Classes!  I am offering four different clay classes this summer: Beginning Hand Building, Potters Wheel and Hand Building, Mold Pouring, and Mosaic Design.  Class time is from 10 am to 12 pm Monday thru Friday (sans Thursday) once a week for 3 weeks per session.  They will be held at our ceramic studio, in the backyard and the carriage house.  Have your child wear sunscreen and hats if they are sensitive to the sun, but rest assured we will be providing shade with our new pop ups!  The enclosed backyard has picnic tables, chalk & bubbles, and beautiful plants to make your children feel at home.  Call or email if you would like to register your child for any of the above classes.
